Do you have rushes of fear accompanied by a pounding heart, trembling, dizziness, and feelings of unreality that make you think you’re sick, dying, or losing your mind? Do these feelings interfere with your normal daily routine, or prevent you from doing things you would normally do? If you are prone to panic attacks and constantly worry about when the next attack may come, you may suffer from panic disorder and/or agoraphobia. Though panic disorder seems irrational and uncontrollable, it has been proven that a treatment like the one outlined in this book can help you take control of your life.

Now in its 4th edition, Mastery of Your Anxiety and Panic, Workbook has been updated to include strategies and techniques for dealing with both panic disorder and agoraphobia. The program outlined is based on the principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and is organized by skill, with each chapter building on the one before it.

If you have panic attacks, you know it can rob your life of joy. This article will discuss what to do about Panic Syndrome and how to get your life back on track. Panic Syndrome is a layman’s term for what most health care professionals call panic disorder. It is an umbrella term that covers phobias, general anxiety, and panic attacks. But one thing they all have in common is that they are debilitating and cause sufferers a great deal of distress. Severe dread of another attack haunts the vast number of people who are unlucky enough to suffer from it. Future attacks are actually more likely to be caused BECAUSE people are afraid they will suffer other attacks. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Anxiety is a more broad form of psychological distress. Its symptoms are uneasiness, thoughts that the user cannot control, nausea, discomfort, etc. When the person with anxiety confronts the things they fear, or their thought patterns get out of control, they can erupt into a panic attack. Panic attack sufferers are advised to get away from the source of anxiety as soon as they are safely able to do so. Example: sufferers of claustrophobia who find themselves in crowded elevator should get off at the nearest floor, whether or not it is where they wanted to go.

          ]]>

For some people, there is not a physical trigger so much as an ongoing state of mind. These people often have panic attacks in relation to a major traumatic event in their life, such as a divorce, death in the family, physical attack, etc.

Meditation can teach people to control their thoughts and thus break negative patterns of thought that lead to panic attacks.

However, using meditation to control panic attacks is a skill that is learned over time.

Panic attack sufferers should ask their physician or therapist for help in dealing with the issue, and potentially seek out support groups as well. If a person with panic attacks educates himself about panic syndrome, he will be that much closer to understanding what triggers them and how to control them. Medication can help, but it should not be the first resort. Too many doctors immediately prescribe drugs rather than suggesting alternate therapies that can help the person live a life free of panic attacks without drugs.

Twenty-five million Americans suffer from diagnosable anxiety disorder, and our cultural climate seems to breed more apprehension and fear with each passing day. Itís no surprise that international pharmaceutical companies spend billions each year to research and develop psychoactive drugs that counter psychological symptoms. Unfortunately, there doesnít appear to be any ìmagic pillî for people who are chronically anxious. Successful treatments that rely on drugs have an extremely high incidence of relapse, and the side affects of most prescription anti-anxiety drugs are as debilitating as the disorder itself. From the best-selling author of The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook and a naturopathic physician, this book helps you develop a treatment strategy for anxiety that is totally drug-free. The authors begin with an introduction to healthy lifestyle choices. Then they discuss a variety of conditions that can aggravate anxiety-related problems. They provide an overview of complimentary

Panic attacks symptoms can be very confusing. They include weird feelings, you have no idea what’s going on, where they come from and why this is happening to you. Panic attacks can be confused with a nervous breakdown, heart attack, general anxiety and more. This guide will help you find out if you suffer from panic disorder or is it actually something else.

Hyperventilation

Do you feel that you breathe faster than you need? Short of breath? This is called hyperventilation. When this happens, the brain gets less oxygen than needed. The result: your vision blurs, you can feel dizzy, anxious, nervous and tense. You may also feel like crying and worst of all – suffocating. Than you get the need to breathe more deeply, which makes the condition worse. This causes feelings of numbness or cold feet, chest pain and trembling and tingling in your fingers and feet. It’s very frightening. Many people get so freaked out, they run to the emergency room immediately.

Dizziness

Do you feel suddenly light-headed or dizzy? Many times you may also feel unable to balance, like you’re sea sick. You may also feel like you are going to faint right now and that the world is spinning. This is usually caused by the hyperventilation but not always. When you think you will faint you get even more afraid which elevates the panic. This can continue for hours or just minutes.

Chest pain, Palpitations, Irregular Heart Beats

          ]]>

Chest pain is probably the most frightening one of the panic attacks symptoms. Most people that experience this are sure they are going through a heart attack. Your heart beats real fast and the chest muscles feel very tight. The added fear causes more false heart attack symptoms like sweating, numbness in the arms and palpitations. Sometimes you can feel irregular heart beats, or skipped beats. The chest pain you feel is caused by the tensed muscles in your chest and not by a heart attack.

Other Panic Attacks Symptoms Are:
· Throat thickening, choking feeling
· Blurred vision, sensitivity to light, itchy eyes
· Ringing in your ears
· Digestive system/Nausea
· Nausea and digestion problems
· Metallic taste in the mouth or ammonia taste or smell
· Sudden urge to go to the toilet, frequent urination
· Stiffness in the muscles, muscle twitching
· Shaking or trembling
· Feeling chilled, cold sweating
· Tingling in hands and feet, numbness
· Headaches
· Depersonalization, Derealization, Feeling of unreality
· Fear of losing your mind, fear you are going to die, losing control
· Chronic fatigue
· Being afraid to get out of the house, seeing people
· Dry mouth
· Mood swings
· Panic in the middle of the night, bad dreams
· Obsessive thoughts, trouble concentrating
· Sugar cravings constantly
· Weak legs
What Causes Panic Attacks Symptoms?

The reasons for panic attacks are not yet fully known. Some studies found that a combination of reasons are involved, some of them are: abnormalities in the brain (Chemical problems in some parts of the brain), family genetics (it’s known to run in families) and constant major stress or post traumatic syndrome (major life transitions, death of spouse or family member).

What Can You Do About It?

If the symptoms listed above apply to you, you may be suffering from panic attacks. There are many different ways to treat panic disorder: medication, herbal remedies, breathing techniques, counseling and supplements are some of them.

The best way to treat panic attacks symptoms is to achieve a real cure by treating the root and causes of the problem. This can be achieved by cognitive behavioral therapy.

Remember this – You don’t have to accept and live with panic attacks symptoms. To find out about a cognitive behavioral technique that has helped thousands of sufferers, go to http://no-more-panic-today.com

It’s time to take that important first step – right now!

Is Any Of This Experience Familiar To You?

•Maybe you found yourself in the hospital’s ER because you thought you were having a heart attack only to be told later it was anxiety?

•Do you ever fear you might stop breathing because your chest feels tight and your breathing erratic?

          ]]>

•When you drive do you fear the idea of getting stuck in traffic, on a bridge or at red lights?

•Do you ever feel nervous and afraid you might lose control or go insane?

•Have you struggled with anxious thoughts that will not stop?

•Do you ever feel uncomfortable in enclosed spaces such as supermarkets, cinemas, public transport or even sitting at the hair dressers?

•Are you nervous and on edge in normal situations that never bothered you before?

Do You Feel Any Of The Following Bodily Sensations?

•Dizzy spells leading to panic

•Tightness in throat and chest- shortness of breath

•Racing heart with tingle sensations

•Hot flushes followed by waves of anxiety

•Obsessive worries and unwanted thoughts

•Not feeling connected to what is going on around you

•Overwhelming fear that the anxiety will push you over the edge?

These and other similar uncomfortable sensations are all too common but the truth is you do not have to ever suffer from another panic attack or anxiety attack again

I’ll explain why

Most of the people I deal with have been struggling with anxiety disorders for many years and have usually exhausted themselves looking for a solution in every book, course, or treatment program out there. By the time they get to me, they are very skeptical (as is natural) and have little faith in ever getting rid of their condition.

The technique I teach has been developed by me Barry McDonagh, a former sufferer of all too frequent panic attacks and GAD. I developed a completely natural approach to eliminating 100% of general anxiety and panic attacks. This may seem very hard to believe for someone who may have had this condition for some time but believe me the new information is now available to be free from anxiety. I will reveal the whole technique to you.

You will be amazed at how such a simple technique known as the 21-7 Technique™ could be so powerful in restoring you back to your former care free self. I am not only talking about eliminating panic attacks but also getting your general anxiety level right back down to zero without the use of any medication or alternative therapies. This technique is based on advanced psychology made simple for everyone to apply.

Your anxiety will vanish.

Your Confidence Will Soar

And The Results Last A Lifetime.

Natural anxiety relief is often being considered by people who suffer from anxiety or panic attacks, as an alternative to prescribed medication. In this article I will explain why this is a popular decision and the best natural anxiety relief available and how it should be used.

Anxiety attacks affect approximately 17% of the adult population worldwide, and the most common approach to treating it is with prescribed medication. These prescribed drugs are designed to alter the biochemistry of the brain, so changing the way the sufferer feels. However, it is a known fact that these anti-anxiety drugs have many side effects, including paranoia, an increase of suicidal feelings in the first few weeks, and long-term addiction.

For this reason, an increasing number of people are looking for natural anxiety relief as a way to control and ultimately cure their anxiety and panic attacks. There are three main area of natural anxiety treatment available:

The herbal method – This method relies upon natural products, however, it should be remembered that they still aim to affect the brains biochemistry. Some of the most effective herbal supplements for anxiety relief are:

Valerian – Natures own tranquilizer! For centuries, Valerian has been the herbalist’s favourite treatment for any type of nervous tension. Valerian has few unpleasant side effects, except for its horrible taste! It should not be taken with any other form of sedative.

          ]]>

Evening Primrose Oil – Originally a Native American herb it has a wide range of uses, including the traditional treatment of anxiety.

Passion Flower – Highly effective at relieving muscle tension and effects of severe anxiety. Can help to promote a good night’s sleep. Do not take if pregnant.

Actaea Rose – A Native American herb, used to good effect with panic.

St John’s Wort – Probably the most famous herb used to treat depression. It has also been found to be useful in treating anxiety, possibly because it is an effective muscle relaxant.

As with all medicine prescribed or herbal, the stated dose should not be exceeded.

Lifestyle Change – General lifestyle advice for treating anxiety is similar to that given for reducing stress.

Improve your diet – eat more fruit and vegetable and whole grains. Also, reduce caffeine and alcohol, as both are stimulants.

Be physically fit – Get more exercise.

These are all things we know we should be doing; however, going for a jog when you feel anxious can feel like the hardest thing in the world to do. From personal experience, possibly the most annoying piece of advice, I was ever given by my doctor!

Talking therapy - These methods attempt to alter the brains patterns, and biochemistry, through behaviour modification such as hypnosis, visualization, coaching and CBT.

The most successful natural method of curing anxiety and panic attacks is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) based programmes that have been developed in the last few decades. The success rate of these treatments is approximately 95%. Either on a one-to-one basis with a therapist or by committing to self-help programme.

All of the three methods mentioned above have pros and cons, and all of them take commitment and patience. No magic cure that can get rid of anxiety exists. However, it is possible to cure anxiety using natural methods, as opposed to merely suppressing it with medication.

Overall, I feel that an approach combining all three natural anxiety reliefs would be the most successful and would help to initially manage anxiety and panic and then to completely cure anxiety.

When Panic Attacks and Anxiety take over your life, a dark period begins. Worry takes over and things that should be fun are not fun anymore. When you start to avoid doing certain things, when you try to find excuses to not go somewhere or do something, this book is for you. I have had this problem for 14 years, including: – generalized anxiety disorder – panic attacks – agoraphobia – social phobia – fear of driving or traveling – a stressful feeling 24/7 with symptoms like a racing heart, a dry mouth and a red face, nausea, dizziness, headaches, a feeling of warmth going through my body, and some aches and pains everywhere in my body. The doctors couldn’t find anything and all my therapist did was prescribe more pills that gave me side-effects. In 2004 I found a way out and since then I’ve been sharing my method with other people all over the world. It’s not a miracle, it’s not a magic cure but it seems to work very well for the people who gi

There’s a great deal of interest in how to stop panic attacks and anxiety without medication nowadays. In the main, sufferers just don’t want to be dependent on mind-numbing drugs such as antidepressants and tranquilizers for long periods of their lives. They would much prefer to handle things totally naturally. Here you’ll learn of one such natural approach to eliminating your anxiety and panic attacks…

FOREWORD ON STOPPING PANIC ATTACKS AND ANXIETY WITHOUT MEDICATION

When considering how to stop panic attacks and anxiety without medication, there are several important things you should bear in mind…

(1). The first thing is that we aren’t dealing with a mental condition, rather we’re dealing with a behavioural one. You are not going mad. And, because it’s behavioural, it can be corrected with the proper guidance and information.

(2). Another consideration is that an attack cannot cause you any harm, you are perfectly safe. You may feel as though you are about to, but you won’t die. Your body is quite capable of handling the terrifying symptoms of an attack. In fact, it’s your body’s fight or flight response that triggers your attacks in the first place!

(3). Although you may think you lack courage, you certainly don’t. Remember that, on a daily basis, you face a range of challenges that the average person very rarely has to.

(4). Because of point (1) above, you don’t have to worry about being stuck with your anxiety problem for the rest of your life. It can be cured, with the correct approach.

These are very important points to understand because they are all positive ones and so form a solid starting point for your cure.

You have no doubt visited your doctor and been diagnosed with general anxiety and panic attacks. And, as in most cases, you’ve been prescribed drugs, usually antidepressants, tranquilizers and even beta blockers. You may also have been referred to a therapist.

The problem here is that neither of these address a fundamental aspect of your ongoing problem, and that is that they don’t address your fear of having another panic attack.

FEAR OF PANIC ATTACKS AND YOUR ANXIETY CYCLE

You see, your unconscious or conscious fear of your next attack can actually trigger such an attack. But where does this fear come from? It’s so simple really. The experience of your first attack was so terrifying that you live (consciously or subconsciously) in dread of another. This is understandable. The problem is that as long as this persists it only adds to your already high anxiety levels.

So the key is to break out of this cycle of anxiety by getting rid of your fear of another panic attack. If you can do this then you are able to address your underlying general anxiety much more effectively and so eliminate it. But if mainstream treatment cannot do this effectively what other options are there?

HOW TO STOP PANIC ATTACKS AND ANXIETY WITHOUT MEDICATION

One serious option is to get rid of your fear of panic attacks by taking a counter-intuitive approach. By that I mean, instead of running away or hiding from your next panic attack, i.e. never putting yourself in a position where one might occur, you actually tackle your fear head-on. For example, try to make yourself have an attack right this second. I know that, try as hard as you might, you cannot. You’ve faced up to it. You met the challenge head on.

And so the next time you feel an attack about to come on, recognize it for what it is. You now know what causes it. Know that it cannot harm you and will end shortly. Even repeat to yourself that you know what it is and that you aren’t in danger. And focus outwards on things around you, not inwards on your symptoms. I’ve actually, in my head, told an attack when it began to ‘do its worst.’ In other words meet the attack head on and wrestle back control.

There is no doubt that you can eliminate panic attacks and anxiety using totally natural techniques. And by now understanding that these attacks cannot cause harm and that your fear of them is what is actually holding you back, you are better positioned to go on and get your freedom back. So, no more fear of going out because of the fear of an attack, no more putting off holiday plans or business travel, no more fear of getting stuck in traffic or on trains, etc., and no more living a very trapped existence…

So next, to get the facts on a life changing technique that could stop a panic attack in as little as 21 seconds and lower anxiety in as little as 7 minutes please now go to http://www.thepanicattacksite.info.

The author constantly researches health issues then writes reports on his findings so that you are perhaps more aware of the facts, and then, better able to make an informed decision on your choice of treatment and cure. Remember to always consult your doctor first.

                <!– @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } –>
Introduction

In this article you will learn how to help a friend or loved one cope and recover from panic attacks, by using a method called self exposure. A way for them to slowly become accustomed to the things and situations that make them uncomfortable. You will also learn how to avoid mistakes that would do more harm than good. Mistakes family and friends make with good intentions, but may only serve to have them avoid the things and situations that cause them anxiety

Learning the techniques of Exposure Therapy

You will need to learn about anxiety disorders and exposure treatment. If your friend or loved one has been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, focus on that particular disorder. There are many good online works on exposure therapy you can read to prepare yourself to help them. I have included a brief description of Four different anxiety disorders.

Don’t feel that you can’t possibly help without being a qualified behavioral therapist. The main influences in our lives are the people around us, not the experts or professionally trained.

Is the person you want to help ready?

After learning the techniques of exposure therapy, discussing them with the person you wish to help may get them to give the techniques a try. Help cannot be forced on anybody. They must make a conscious decision of their own to accept your help and work at confronting their fears. He or she may not know the rewards of trying hard and might, consciously or unconsciously, believe that the techniques won’t work and would not be worth the effort.

The importance of trust

People don’t accept help from someone they can’t trust. If you’ve promised to help, stick to your word and take it seriously. You must prove to them that you can be trusted and relied on. Your actions are more important than what you say. If you don’t do the things you said you would, they will lose their trust in you. The person you want to help should not have to feel grateful that you actually kept your promise(this time). They may get discouraged and loose interest in trying to confront their fears.

          ]]>

You will need to be unobtrusive, fully attentive and supportive. Always be exactly where they need you to be. You should never act board or complain. Remember that you’re there to help them overcome something that makes them very uncomfortable. Pushing them to hard, nagging or threatening, will more likely discourage them than increase their efforts.

Brief descriptions of some Anxiety Disorders

Social Anxiety Disorder and its symptoms

Social anxiety disorder is also known as social phobia. A person with social phobia may feel moderate to extreme anxiety in certain situations. They may be self-conscious at social events. Some of the physical symptoms of social anxiety disorder are difficulties talking, blushing, sweating, and nausea. They often feel they are being watched and judged. Somebody with social phobia may also fear embarrassing themselves in front of others.

Anxiety Disorder and its symptoms

Anxiety disorder is sometimes called panic disorder. Someone with anxiety disorder may have moderate to severe panic attacks. They may or may not know what triggers their fears. Some of the physical symptoms of panic disorder are heart palpitations, chest pains, dizziness, shortness of breath and stomach pains. These symptoms can be severe enough to make them think they are having a heart attack or may die.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and its symptoms

Obsessive compulsive disorder is another form of anxiety disorder. A person with OCD has re-occurring unwanted thoughts that caused them to feel anxious. They perform rituals in an attempt to distract themselves from their obsessive thoughts and relief the anxiety they feel. The physical symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder are similar to other anxiety disorders. Some of the rituals they may perform are listed below.

checking repeatedly if the doors locked
rearranging things after somebody has disturbed them
repeatedly combing their hair or checking their make up
cleaning something multiple times
counting
repeatedly washing hands

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and its symptoms

Somebody with generalized anxiety disorder spends most or all of their time worrying excessively. People with GAD are extremely concerned about things some people would feel are trivial or of little consequence. Unlike with some other anxiety disorders, a person with generalized anxiety disorder don’t usually avoid situations that cause them anxiety. Some of the concerns they may have are health conditions, difficulties at work or money. The physical symptoms of GAD are similar to other anxiety disorders.

Mel Wilson is part of what today would be considered a large family. He believes that most of his immediate family is suffering from mental disorders. Some of them professionally diagnosed with mental disorders including, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. In an attempt to understand and help, he has read everything he could find about mental disorders and their treatments. He has learned that you can’t help somebody that won’t admit they have a problem. It is his hope that you will be able to help someone you care about with the information in his articles and on his website at 4anxietyinformation.weebly.com.
