Tips For Panic Attacks

The first step, in dealing with an attack is simple. All you have to do is relax physically. Begin by breathing in deeply, keeping a slow and relaxed rhythm. Ease any tension in your body. Let your muscles relax on each exhale and feel your body calm.
Reassure yourself that you’re going to be fine and that you’ve been here before. Tell yourself that you have complete control over your thoughts and emotions. Take control of any negative thoughts. Realize that you can stop encircling thoughts of fear and anxiety.
This may be hard to do initially for some people. It’s easy to fall into an almost obsessive loop of thoughts that seem impossible to break out of. Thoughts can seem like a skipping record. Distraction methods can help break out of the anxiety cycle. Try something random like singing out loud or jump up and down a few times.

If you feel that you’re mind just won’t stop throwing out fear inducing thoughts, counter them using positive affirmations. Think of an empowering statement that you can repeat over in your mind such as “I’m in control, these sensations will pass and I will be fine.”
You might want to jot down several statements down on a piece of paper and keep them with you. Another part of overcoming anxiety is about rationalizing thoughts. Again this can seem hard to do, because most sufferers do actually realize that their fear or anxiety is irrational.
